Models Own HyperGel - Cornflower Gleam*

Since Models Own announced their new gel effect polishes, I was unbelievably excited.  I'm a big fan of the Barry M Gellies and so it's great to see another U.K brand breaking into this market.  Seeing everyone's swatches of the polishes got me even more excited and so when I received my own samples to review, I was over the moon!

From the Models Own website - 'HyperGel! 10 brand-new mega-shine shades that are highly pigmented, long-lasting and chip resistant. Enriched with lotus flower oil, the gel-like finish gives the professional shine of a salon manicure. The collection is completed with limited edition colour caps, topped off with colour-matched high-shine swatches on the lids that reflect the gel effect finish of the polish so you can select the perfect shades!'

The first polish I swatched was 'Cornflower Gleam', a gorgeous mid-blue cornflower shade that caught my eye in Models Own's first publicity shots.  As the polish is heavily pigmented and thick, you could just use one coat and be done but I prefer to use two thinner coats of polish.  Before I applied my top coat, the shine from the polish was excellent and you could easily miss this step out if you prefer but out of habit, I used top coat.

The polish evens out when you apply it to the nail and goes onto the nail really smoothly.  Clean up was minimal and what little polish that was on the sides of the nails (and one unfortunate twitch that meant I flooded one of my cuticles) was easily wiped away with acetone and a brush with no staining.

I think these polishes are a great alternative to normal polishes as they do offer high pigmentation and gel-like gloss and unlike Barry M, Models Own are charging the same for Hypergel as they do their normal lacquers (£5).

You can now pre-order the Hypergel polishes as part of Models Own's 250,000 likes 50% sale on their website.  Simply go to their facebook page, give them a like and see the code.

Look out for more swatches from the collection in the next coming days and HOPEFULLY I'll be including some nail art too!

  4. This shade is a beautiful colour but for me it was opaque in 4 coats , the formula was streaky sheer and watery. Nails inc "regents place" or Orly "snowcone" are better.
