Models Own Sticky Fingers in Sweet Candy, Pastel Petals (Green) and Bows*

Those creative geniuses over at Models Own HQ are launching ANOTHER new product line this Spring and it's these fantabulous Sticky Fingers nail polish and self-adhesive sticker sets.  There are 7 different varieties on offer (5 different designs with multiple colour options) and I have the pleasure of showing you Sweet Candy, Pastel Petals (Green Gladiola) and Bows so hop on under the cut to see swatches and how to and also how NOT to apply these nail art stickers.

From Models Own:
'Easily customise your nails with these fun sticker designs! Each Sticky Fingers nail art kit allows you to add a personalised finishing touch to your manicure. No hassle. No mess!'

The Sweet Candy set comes with the polish Nude Beige and stickers of various sweet treats like cake, ice-cream and sweeties.  It's my personal favourite from the 3 sets I received because the stickers are so gosh darn cute!  For your own reference, there is no top coat on the nail at all.  You can see the outline of the stickers from close up but further away, they give a pretty seamless effect.

There are 2 different Pastel Petals sets and the one I received contained the polish Green Gladiola which I LOVE!  It's such a great spring shade.  With the floral stickers, I feel like you have to put more than one on each nail to get a better effect whereas with Sweet Candy you could get away with just having one on each nail, so you might get more for your money.  You all know how much I love florals so I have to like this set as a given.  In this example, I applied top coat at the very end of the process, sealing everything in.

Remember when I said I'll be showing you how to and how NOT to use these stickers?  Well, here's the here not too LOL.  Bows comes with the shade Pastel Pink which is another great spring shade and a fantastic selection of different shaped and coloured bows.  In this example, you can see that I used top coat on top of my polish to speed up the drying process but as you can see, using top coat on the polish before applying the stickers causes them to lift off from the nail.  It's important for me to make these mistakes so you don't have to LOL

So here are the rules for using Sticky Fingers;
  1. Use thin coats of polish to make your colour opaque, this will mean the nail will dry faster.
  2. Make sure your polish is DRY before applying the stickers.  If you don't, you'll have a bit of a mess on your hands.  It does mean that it can take a bit longer to do your nails but the end result will be worth it.
  3. DO NOT USE quick dry spray or top coat on your polish before applying your stickers.  This will cause the stickers to lift off and peel.
  4. Apply top coat once stickers are down flat on the nail to help make the manicure last longer.
Removing the polish and stickers is no big deal, you just have to work a little bit to move the stickers off the nail but they do break down with the nail polish remover to make the job a bit easier.

You also get a good amount of stickers with each set, enough for perhaps 3 or 4 manicures so the £1 extra on top of the normal polish price is good value.

If you're a fan of nail art but are afraid of attempting it yourself then this is the perfect solution for you.  Since these are not nail decals but stickers, it takes one step out of the process but it does mean that you do see the edges of the design from close up but it's a compromise a lot of people are probably willing to take.

Models Own Sticky Fingers are available from the Models Own website NOW, priced at £6 and are included in their current 6 for £20 offer.  They will become in Superdrug and Boots throughout March and April.
