Glam It Up A Gear - Models Own Fiesta Collection with Ford Retail
Models Own Candy Blue, Fashionista and Hot Magenta
Hello! I am pleased to show you these new and exclusive Models Own shades made in partnership with Ford Retail. Models Own and Ford Retail have partnered up for 'Glam It Up A Gear'. These shades are inspired by three Ford Fiesta shades and can only be owned if, during the month of September, you register your details at Glam It Up A Gear (the website is not live yet but I've emailed to see when it might be so I'm just waiting on a reply) and head to one of 65 new car showrooms at Ford Retail Dealerships around the UK and take a new Ford Fiesta out for a test drive. Once you have completed a test drive, the polishes will be mailed out to you. What have you got to lose?
Now, onto the polishes! Firstly, Candy Blue
Candy Blue* is a lively blue with a slight shimmer. It's almost a turquoise and not that different from Jacava Chillax. This is with two coats and a top coat. This shade is by far my favourite of the trio. It was the easiest to apply and had the best finish. Two coats made the polish completely opaque and the colour is just gorgeous. The light just catches the polish perfectly and this is definitely a polish that will turn heads at any upcoming Christmas parties (can you believe it's September? SCARY!). I was a bit worried that this might be a hassle to take off due to the shimmer/microglitter but it came off with regular nail polish remover very easily with little to no staining. Candy Blue is a great formula and colour and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Fashionista* is described as a 'statement gold' and 'party appropriate'. It's a dull gold colour and has a very thin formula. This is with three coats and a top coat. The formula is a little streaky and sheer so multiple layers are a must. Also be careful about how you apply the polish because, as you can see in the photo, you can see the brush strokes very clearly so you have to bear that in mind when you are using it. It's an understated metallic and I think it would suit darker skin tones better. Against my pale skin, I don't think it did me any favours so I might try this out on my Mummy next and see how it looks on her. This shade reminds me of Models Own Golden Green, it's just less green but I prefer the formula of Golden Green. I think this polish would be a good base for some nail art but it's definitely not my favourite of the bunch.
Hot Magenta* is a metallic pink/burgundy which is perfect for Autumn/Winter. This is two coats and a top coat. When I put my first coat down on my nail, it applied very streaky and I was worried that this wasn't going to look that nice but as soon as I applied the second coat, everything evened out and you get a perfect finish. This shade is great and I think it is very on trend as it is almost an oxblood colour, which I think is going to be one of the big colours of AW13/14 due to the 90s revival going on everywhere and this shade does perfectly match my Oxblood DMs (which were purchased YEARS ago in the Doc Shop I'll have you know!). I'm still wearing this shade and in work today I already had some comments saying it was perfect for AW13/14.
So I hope you've enjoyed the post and this encourages you all to hop along to you nearest Ford Retail dealership and test drive a new Ford Fiesta to get all three of these great shades.
