I'm not usually one for matte nail polishes because I do like a glossy finish but when I saw the Frosted Matte collection over on Born Pretty, I knew I had to try one and I was drawn to this turquoise colour.

The swatches are of two coats of the polish with no top coat.  Although the polish is called matte, it is almost a demi-matte finish as it has a matte finish but with some shine, if you understand me?   Application was fine but I would recommend applying with thin coats to get coverage as my experience with matt polishes are that they can apply a little thickly and you don't necessarily get the best coverage.  Also, I would recommend doubling up on base coat or using a ridge filler base as even though I buffed my nails before I used this polish, you can still see some ridging.  I don't know whether this is due to the polish or my nails but it might be worth using a thicker base just in case, I used Essie's base coat.

I wore this polish for five days I think with no top coat and there was only tip wear.  The polish is obviously long lasting but if you want that extra protection, apply a matte top coat.

What's great about these Tribal polishes is that they not contain toluene, formaldehyde, acetone type solvent, or DBP.  I also love the frosted finish of the polish bottle and its shape is uber cute.

Tribal Candy Color Frosted Matte Glossy Nail Polish Varnish (ID 7157) is available from the Born Pretty Store at a lower price of $2.99 or £1.86 and is available in 20 different shades.  Born Pretty Store also stocks other nail art accoutrements such as decals, studs and brushes and if you want to order anything, remember to use my discount code YWL91 to get 10% off your purchase.

Are you a fan of matte polishes or would you have applied a top coat?  Let me know in the comments below or through any other site, until next time :-)
