Rock and Roses
Today's post is brought to you by my love of florals and knitwear. Combine them together and by jingo, you've got one excited blogger. Click the cut to check out more pictures of one of my favourite manicures in a while as well as the cardigan in question.
Flossgloss Faded, Barry M Passionfruit, Mango and Lime (Gellies)
So to be more specific, this nail art is based on a cardigan from Primark. I got it on sale (it was only £7) and I LOVE it! I've been wanting a dark boyfriend shape cardigan and once I saw this, I was in love. It was one of those moments where you're heading up the escalator and see it in the distance as you move further and further away. Once I looked at the stuff on the upper floors, I came back downstairs and grabbed this baby. It was the last one in my size as well so it was meant to be...I think!
Since I love floral patterns so much, I knew this would end up on my nails at some point and Faded is the perfect base. A charcoal grey with a slightly green tone, Faded is a dark neutral base without being as stark as black. The gelly shades from Barry M went on as is and were so highly pigmented I didn't need to use any white base. Did you know that roses are hard to paint? LOL
In terms of method, I tried to reference the shape and shading of the pattern on the cardigan to try and keep it as similar as possible. I painted the red rose shape, then went back in with Faded to create shading, Mango for highlights and Lime for leaves. It can take time but all in all it is a pretty straight-forward manicure.
I hope to be able to integrate some more fashion into my blog and maybe this is the first step!
