ASOS Africa SS14 Nails

So this week, us ASOS insiders got a sneak peek at the new ASOS Africa collection that's going to drop on the website on the 10th March.  As soon as I saw the collection, the colour palette of spearmint and pastel pinks just drew me in like WOAH and I HAD to do some nails inspired by the collection so hope on under the cut to check out the collection and more of my nails :-)

From ASOS:
'Inspired by traditional African occasion wear, the spring 2014 ASOS Africa collection is all about authentic African lace partnered with sheer black organza overlays. Sourced and produced in Nigeria, these unique laces are mixed with digital monochrome prints on trousers and tunics, perfect for layering. Expect shades of spearmint and pastel pinks (swoon!) with pretty scallop edges to soften sporty chevron jersey binding and baseball top styles.

ASOS Africa aims to help growth and empowerment in Africa, encouraging artisans and community groups as well as larger producers across the continent – so buying from this collection is a pretty good deed indeed!'

I absolutely adore this pattern.  This colours are so spring!  I mean, can you really go wrong with pastels?  The pattern is really cool and tropical but because of the pastel colour scheme, it doesn't seem as intimidating to wear.  The use of sheer organza as well helps make these really loud patterns a lot more wearable.  I really love this piece in particular, as well as the white midi dress.

My nails are an abstract version of this pattern (read this as my poor attempt to recreate the pattern and covering up my tracks LOL) but the colour scheme is an absolute dream.  I initially just wanted to use all of the pastel shades but I needed to use the black to add a bit of definition and dimension to the pattern.

I've loved every ASOS Africa collection since I LOVE pattern and while the style of this collection is not usually what I would go for, I love this modern interpretation of the traditional African aesthetic and making the colours more muted and calm.

What's your favourite piece from the collection?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to follow me on all the sites below, until next time :-)
